Proposal for Media Audiences - Thriller

I will write a questionnaire with questions based on Thriller films, I will ask questions about:
- What the audience expects from independent and mainstream films
- Which type of settings/locations the audience expects to see in Thriller films
- What type of characters they prefer in Thrillers
- What Thriller genre the audience prefer and why
- What is memorable about Thriller films

I am going to use a questionnaire because I can ask more people and show the quantitative results using graphs, if I used interviews the questions would be the same but all the data would be qualitative so it would be more difficult to show my results.

I expect that the audience wouldn’t know much about the differences between independent and mainstream films but they would most likely expect the mainstreams films to have more action and CGI as the mainstream films have more money to spend on graphics and expensive action scenes. I think that the most expected type of setting/location for Thrillers would be dependant on the subgenre, for example Action Thrillers would most likely be set in an exotic location, while Horror Thrillers would likely be set in an isolated location. The probable expectation for characters would be a male hero and a distressed or sidekick female. The male hero would likely be drawn into the danger unwillingly but step up to the responsibility to save a family member of kill the villain. This is what many Action Thriller films are like so the expectation from the audience would mirror this. I think that the most preferred thriller genre would be either action or horror because it is the most used type of genre for thrillers. The most memorable parts of thriller would likely be the characters or music as both of these elements are normally very emphasized.
